Dead Man's Gravel - The Cuckoos Sang In Their Appropriated Nests

Dead Man's Gravel, meanwhile, sees the ubiquitous Campbell teaming up with two friends to create a couple of lengthy, gently pulsating space-drones. Alternatively oppressive and meditative, the first one is a drift from an amniotic ocean, tentative piano giving way to distorted whistles. The more abrasive 'Capitalism Red in Tooth and Claw' turns the drone into a compressed howl reminiscent of a minature wind tunnel, sucking up bubbles of interference to create a disorientating dread akin to one of those dreams where you're standing in the middle of a busy road and your legs have turned to toffee. All for the price of a couple of pints, too! From The Leeds Guide, May 2001 (widely available around Leeds and nearby towns, £1.50)
